<!-- Version 1.0, in effect from 1 November 2026 -->
# Terms of use

These terms apply when you use alloymc.dev and its subdomains, an AlloyMC account, the AlloyMC API, or download the Alloy launcher. AlloyMC is run by Krauss Software (brand Elchi Studios), Oberägeri, Switzerland ("we"). By creating an account you agree to them; by using the sites without an account, the parts about the sites and the API apply.

## Your account

- You need to be at least 13. Where the law sets a higher age for agreeing to online services on your own, you need a parent's or guardian's permission until you reach it.
- One person per account. Don't share it, and don't create accounts to get around a suspension.
- Keep your password to yourself. You're responsible for what happens with your account until you tell us it was taken over.
- The account is free. If we ever add paid features, they'll be optional and come with their own terms you agree to first.

## Your profile and what you post

You keep everything you put on AlloyMC. So that we can show it, you allow us to store it, display it on your profile and in the API, and make the copies that takes (like backups), for as long as it's on AlloyMC. Your profile is public unless you make it private.

What you post must follow the [community guidelines](https://legal.alloymc.dev/guidelines) and the law. Don't post anything you don't have the right to share.

## Handles

Handles are first come, first served, but they aren't property. We may take back a handle that impersonates someone, infringes a trademark, is used only to sell or squat it, or misleads people, and we keep a few reserved for AlloyMC itself. A handle you give up redirects to your new one for 30 days and is then free for others.

## Moderation

We can remove content, reset parts of a profile, suspend or delete an account that breaks these terms or the guidelines, or that puts other people or AlloyMC at risk. How strongly we act depends on how serious it is: usually a fix or a warning first, straight to suspension for serious harm. When we act on your account we tell you why by email when we can. If you think we got it wrong, write to [legal@elchi.dev](mailto:legal@elchi.dev) and a person will look at it again.

## The API

You can use the AlloyMC API in your own projects, free, within these rules:

- Stay within the rate limits and use the `Retry-After` header when you hit them.
- Don't use the API to build lists of people for spam or harassment, to track people, or to rebuild AlloyMC profiles somewhere they can't be deleted. When someone deletes or hides something on AlloyMC, remove your copy within 30 days.
- Don't pretend to be AlloyMC or imply that we endorse your project.
- Apps that act for people need them to sign in and agree, and may only do what they agreed to.

We may change or retire parts of the API with notice in the [developer changelog](https://api.alloymc.dev/docs/changelog), and limit or block access that breaks these rules.

## The Alloy launcher

Alloy is free and open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0, which governs your rights to its code. It's provided as it is, without warranty, as the license says. Minecraft itself is Mojang's: playing it needs a Microsoft account that owns the game, and Mojang's [EULA](https://www.minecraft.net/eula) applies. Mods and modpacks come from their authors through Modrinth and CurseForge, under their terms.

## Availability and changes

We work to keep AlloyMC up, but we can't promise it will always be available, and we may change, pause or end features. If we ever shut down accounts entirely, we'll tell you by email at least 30 days ahead so you can download your data.

## Liability

We're liable for damage we cause intentionally or through gross negligence. Beyond that, and as far as the law allows (Art. 100 Swiss Code of Obligations), we're not liable for damage from using AlloyMC or not being able to use it, including lost data, game saves or mods. Keep your own backups of worlds that matter to you. Mandatory consumer protection in your country stays unaffected.

## Ending

You can delete your account whenever you want under [Account → Your data](https://alloymc.dev/account#data). We can end these terms for your account if you seriously or repeatedly break them; otherwise we'll give you 30 days' notice.

## Changes to these terms

We'll update the version and date at the top. If a change matters for you, we'll email you at least 30 days before it applies. If you don't agree, you can delete your account before then.

## Law and courts

Swiss law applies. Courts in Zug, Switzerland, have jurisdiction. If you're a consumer in the EU, you keep the protection of the mandatory law of the country you live in and can also sue there.
